Yoga

I am a 500hr RYT Yoga Teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience.

My Yoga Class is a melting pot of Hatha Yoga practice in the styles of ISHTA (the integrated science of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda), Iyengar, Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Restorative and the teachings of Deskichar.

My yoga class has a strong emphasis on the link between the breath, the body and the mind in order to create a moving meditative experience. I infuse my classes with alignment knowledge, tantric breathing and meditation techniques as well as myths, stories and humor. Yoga is for everyone and I tailor my class to fit the needs of the students present while striving to strike a balance between rigor and ease, effort and laughter, and sweat and grace in my classroom environment. I aim to facilitate a space that empowers students to discover their own insights.

My Teaching Experience: I am a dance and 500 RYT Yoga teacher. I have been teaching since 2007. I have experience teaching women with a history of sexual abuse, the mentally and physically disabled, and children. I have an in-depth knowledge of injury management, the art of sequencing, restorative yoga, the subtle body, meditation and Ayurveda. I teach group as well as private classes. I have also led a variety of dance and yoga workshops such as: States and Transformation; Structure & Freedom Composition Workshop; Viewpoints; Yoga Inversions, Arm Balances 101, Subtle Body and Restorative Yoga. I enjoy facilitating a space where students can connect to their bodies, hear their own wisdom and empower themselves through movement.

WHAT STUDENTS ARE SAYING:

“Aurora has been a gift in my life as a yoga teacher. Since taking classes with her for the past 9 months, my practice has grown immensely and I have been able to do poses that I have never been able to do before taking her classes. As someone with moderate scoliosis, I really appreciate her strong foundation in anatomy through her years of professional dancing and yoga teaching because of my scoliosis and other spinal issues (e.g., rotated vertebrae and lumbar lordosis). She always suggests poses that are good for my scoliosis and she has helped me to understand how my body’s alignment influences my ability to do certain poses. Aurora is always present in her classes and with her students and provides lovely adjustments during class. I have found her making adjustments for poses that will benefit my scoliosis and I am forever grateful! Not only is she a talented asana teacher, but she is a very talented spiritual teacher. Aurora teaches from her heart and her soul and she often shares pieces of poetry, quotes from books or some yoga history. I leave Aurora’s classes feeling like I have learned new poses, more about my body, and more about the yoga tradition. Aurora is a rare gem of a teacher and anyone would be lucky to take her class!” -Stephanie Well, Ph.D, April 2015

“I have practiced yoga for 13 years. For me, it’s always been about the teacher. Thirteen years ago I was lucky enough to feel awakened by my 1st instructor. Literally, he unlocked a door in my head/heart.   I can honestly say that I was fortunate upon reflection, because I have enjoyed (or endured!) many a teacher since then. Mid 2012, I took a two year hiatus from yoga because it had become stagnant for me. In July of 2014, Aurora Lagattuta began to teach at the small studio where I had rediscovered my practice. Aurora affected my second yogi awakening. Through her varied teachings approaches, dependent upon level or lunar/seasonal inspiration, I found myself reconnecting with my deeper self. Her classes are always purposeful and appropriate, allowing just the right parts to open for whatever is to be the grand finale that day. I continue to leave her classes refreshed, replenished and thoughtful. I highly recommend Aurora and all the beauty that she has to offer as a yogi.”- Lydia Callis, Teacher March, 2015
